Guidelines for Session Conveners
As a session convener at ES:GC2 2015, you play a crucial role in facilitating meaningful discussions and ensuring productive outcomes. These guidelines will help you prepare for and manage your session effectively.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pre-Conference Preparation
- • Review and approve speaker abstracts for your session
- • Coordinate with speakers regarding presentation formats and timing
- • Prepare session introduction and discussion questions
- • Submit session outline by February 28, 2015
2. During the Conference
- • Introduce speakers and moderate discussions
- • Ensure adherence to time limits
- • Facilitate Q&A sessions and audience engagement
- • Summarize key outcomes and action points
3. Post-Conference
- • Submit session report within 7 days
- • Provide feedback on session outcomes
- • Assist with follow-up activities and publications
Plenary Sessions
- • Duration: 90 minutes
- • Format: 3-4 speakers + panel discussion
- • Audience: 300+ participants
- • Focus: Major themes and strategic issues
Parallel Sessions
- • Duration: 60-75 minutes
- • Format: 2-3 presentations + discussion
- • Audience: 50-100 participants
- • Focus: Specific topics and research areas
Workshops
- • Duration: 120 minutes
- • Format: Interactive and hands-on
- • Audience: 20-30 participants
- • Focus: Skill building and collaboration
Poster Sessions
